In Linux uptime command shows since how long your system is running and the number of users are currently logged in and also displays load average for 1,5 and 15 minutes intervals. Anyhow I don't think this is a good idea stopping services which you think are the ones to stop but not sure. Therefore you should make a list with the real service names running on the machine that you would like to stop. If you consider to only stop "standard" services like postgres, mysql, http you can find out the service names really easy.
